Patrick Michael Colunga

Patrick Michael Colunga, age 70, passed away September 23, 2023, at Mission Hospital, Asheville, NC. Patrick was born, in San Francisco, CA. He was predeceased by his parents Helen Russell and Lous Alaniz Colunga, sisters, Elizabeth Colunga and Susan Peterson, and brother, Russell Colunga. He is survived by his husband, The Rev. Dn. Michael Ashmore, and sister, Barbara Colunga. Patrick began his career as a registered nurse at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, CA, and spent the last 20 years as an RN at CarePartners Rehabilitation Hospital in Asheville. Patrick cared deeply about his CarePartners family and the patients he cared for so exquisitely. Patrick was a gifted potter and was thrilled to share the pieces he made with friends and coworkers. He was deeply loved by his husband, family, friends, and colleagues and had a gift for making everyone he met feel appreciated and welcomed. Patrick relished being home in his studio and taking trips to the coast with his beloved husband and dogs. He will be remembered for his sweet soul, gentleness, kindness, and easy wit. A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated on October 21 at 11:00 A.M. at the Cathedral of All Souls in Biltmore Village, Asheville, NC. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
