Surrounded by family and on November 28th, 2025, Patrick Dennis Dore died peacefully in his home in Butler, NJ, at the age of 95. A devoted husband, father, and man of faith, Patrick leaves behind a remarkable legacy. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Lorraine, his partner of 65 years, and their daughter Patricia McGovern and son-in-law Jack McGovern. Patrick and Lorraine raised six children: Michael and Nancy Dore, Maureen and James Jacobs, Tim and Lisa Dore, Ted and Janet Dore, and Christina and Craig Vanderhoff. Their family has flourished with 24 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren, with more expected. Patrick is also predeceased by his sister Marie. He also leaves his dear sister-in-law Dolores Torre and several beloved nieces and nephews from the Breitweiser and Soldati families.
Born and raised in the Bronx by his Irish immigrant parents Mike and Mary Dore, Patrick met Lorraine at age 18 and enlisted in the US Navy, serving honorably during the Korean War. After marrying in 1952, they began their family in the Bronx before moving to Butler in 1965. Patrick worked as a field engineer for NCR in New York City until retiring at 62.
Patrick loved spending time at the Jersey Shore, particularly Ocean Beach, and he and Lorraine enjoyed many winters together in Florida.
Faith was the foundation of Patrick’s life. He was a dedicated pillar of St Anthony’s parish in Butler for decades, serving at carnival clam chowder stations, cooking breakfast after Sunday Masses, and generously supporting the parish. His home overflowed with love, laughter, and devotion to God and family.
Patrick’s funeral Mass will be 10am Friday, December 5th, at St Anthony’s Church in Butler with internment nearby at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St Anthony’s food pantry www.saopp.org
