Franklin – Patrick Gayle Ferguson, Sr., 78, took his last breath at 6:19 p.m. on August 13, 2025. Born in Newsoms, he was a son of the late Robert Franklin Ferguson and Virginia Fuller Ferguson. He was also predeceased by a son, Patrick Gayle Ferguson, Jr., three sisters, Sally Vick, Barbara Thorpe, and Mary Hurless, and two brothers, Joe and Gilbert Ferguson. Patrick was a 1965 graduate of Southampton High School and was an insurance agent and owner of Ferguson Insurance Agency. He was the former owner of Kingsdale Grocery and Patrick's Deli. When he could he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, playing poker, and watching westerns. He loved all children and his family and above all loved the Lord and his word. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 59 years, Shirley Benson Ferguson; a son, Earl Karlton Ferguson; a brother, Algie Ferguson (Sandy) of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at 2PM Monday, August 18, 2025 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Kidd officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4PM on Sunday in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to any favorite charity. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
