Patrick was born on April 19, 1958, in Marshall, MN, to David and Betty (Theis) Flood. He grew up in several Minnesota towns before graduating from Swanville High School in 1976. Two years later, he married Diane Kroll, and together they raised three children-twin daughters and a son.
In his early years, Pat worked in construction and pipeline jobs in Oklahoma before returning to Minnesota. He eventually found his career calling in hospital facilities management, spending most of his professional life with Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Arizona, and La Crosse, WI, and later serving as Director of Facilities at CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital. He took great pride in the high standards he maintained at every hospital he touched.
Outside of work, Pat loved golfing, hunting, fishing, and horses, and he enjoyed "talking smart" with anyone willing to listen. He curated a large and carefully selected gun collection, which he shared with family and friends. While living in Arizona, long trail rides on horseback brought him great joy.
Pat was known for his witty, sarcastic, and sometimes brutally honest sense of humor. A devoted Minnesota Vikings fan, he faithfully endured decades of heartbreak. Fittingly, his last text to his sister, following a big Vikings win on September 22, simply read: "It was Great!!!"
A generous soul, Pat was quick to lend anything he owned-cars, fishing gear, or boats-and equally quick to help anyone in need, even if he had less than they did.
Pat is survived by his children: Amanda (Justin) Brower, Alexandria, MN; Janet (Tim) Whetston, New London, MN; and Steven (Alicia) Flood, Bridgman, MI; his grandchildren: Ava, Natalie, Aiden, Quinn, Raelynn, Jameson, and Jackson; his mother, Betty Flood, and stepfather, Ben Feldman, Kenyon, MN; and his siblings: Colleen (Stephen) Seevers, Baxter, MN; Mike Flood, Weatherford, OK; John Flood, Preston, MN; Julie (Dean) Posterick, Baxter, MN; Joan (Grant) Quam, Kenyon, MN; and Ann Houglum, Baxter, MN. He was also a proud uncle to 13 nieces and nephews, whom he truly adored, and a great-uncle to 17. He is further survived by his aunts, Susie Theis and Jylan Flood; his former wives, Diane Helgeson,
Willmar, MN, and Diana Erickson, Lexington, KY; and his long-term partner-his cat, Prada, Baxter, MN-with whom he shared a complicated relationship. He was preceded in death by his father, David.
"Your Light Remains Forever Loved."
