Sorry for the delay but I have fond memories of Whitey. Basketball and football at BSS with Pat Sponsler and Larry Gietl and other notables was elevated to a high level by Pat.

Betty and the kids, there are no words to express, your loss, as well as mine and Gidgets. Pat was my mentor. Even though he is 13 years older than me, I felt we were the same age. Maybe I acted older, or he acted younger. My guess, he always acted younger, I just know we meshed. He taught me how to swim, dive, waterski, swing a tennis racket-play racket ball , swing a bat and throw a softball or baseball faster than most of the boys. He also taught me how to golf and the love of the game. These are just a few of the things he taught me through the years. Both Gidget and I are shattered. I miss his phone calls three times a week and seeing him a couple of times a week. He was always our Big Brother. Our sibling dynamics has changed over the years, but this is the most drastic. I have some big shoes to fill, now that I am the oldest sibling. I had a great educator that will lead me in the correct direction. Both Gidget and I love you to the moon and back. We know when we look into the sky, and see the brightest star shinning down, we know it's you giving us the light to carry on. We love you Always and Forever

Betty and Family,
I just heard today about the passing of Pat. I am so sorry that we missed you at the class reunion. I understand you both were there Friday Night and we were there Saturday night. I was so shocked today when Marie Fiaush told me about Pat. It is hard to hear of things that happen in Springfield since we live in Ohio. We are sending hugs and prayers for you and your family during this time of grief. Please let me know if there is anything we can do to help you and your family. I look forward to seeing the next time we are in town. Please take care of yourself and your family.

Dear Betty, Cindy, David and Melissa,
Our entire family grieves with you for the loss of our dearest friend Pat. The memories of all the good and fun times we've enjoyed together with Pat and your family over the years will never be forgotten. His jolly Santa Claus visits with many of our 36 grandchildren were always a joy and were eagerly anticipated after dark each Christmas Eve. The little one's were always thrilled to sit on his lap and respond to the clever questions he would pose to them. Naturally, his bulging bag would lighten up as he showered them with gifts and tell them that his reindeers were waiting to travel on from our rooftop.
Our memories of Pat will never be forgotten and he will always remain in our prayers. God bless your family.

Sandy and I are so sorry for your loss we were shocked when we first learned of his passing. Pat was not only a good friend but also a treasure to the entire City of Springfield, he will be truly missed. I remember the wonderful times we had together during our ABC years that I will never forget. I first got to know Pat back in 1975 when I worked for Roberts Bros. and the last time I saw him was last year at the KC Club when I was in town having lunch. Pat has always been a good friend to both Sandy and I and he will be sadly missed by all that knew him. Please know that you and the entire Grady family have our deepest condolences and will be in our thoughts and prayers

Dear Family of Patrick Grady-
I met Pat when I met Molly in the late 70's. I knew him and most of the family through Molly. What a wonderful, loving group of Blarney tossers! Molly--my heart has been broken once again this year--now, it is for the grief you will endure. I am just a phone call away!

Betty and member of the Grady Family:
Pat and I were friends from the time we were 10 years old and played Little League baseball together as members of the Red Comets. We continued to be friends throughout the years we played grade school basketball against each other, and in high school on opposing athletic teams.
When it came time to sell my parents house, Pat was the person I thought of first even though I had not lived in Springfield since leaving for college some 40+ years earlier in 1963. It was like we had never taken separate paths and our renewed friendship and Pat's professional service to my family was very much appreciated.
Over the last several years we talked on the phone periodically and I felt his pain at the loss of Finn. We conversed about our kids and told stories about our respective golf games.
Barbara and I are very sad to hear about your (our and the community's) loss. Pat was everything he was ever honored for being. I know what a loving husband, terrific father, and doting grandfather he was. He was a true friend - a lifelong friend; and I have been blessed on more than one occasion to have shared positive life experiences with Pat.

Betty and family like all I am crushed to hear about Pat. He was a legend and an idol of mine as there was nothing he was not great at: Fishing, basketball, cards, parenting, tennis, husbanding, personality, real estate, in Springfield and in Key West, everything. Am sorry I won't be there Thursday. He was the King of us little guys. He will be missed.

Pat was such an inspiration to so many, myself included. Pat helped me obtain my Real Estate license when I worked for Grady Realtors and was a wonderful mentor. May you rest in peace, Pat.

Dearest Grady family,
Thankyou for sharing one of the sweetest loving men I have ever known. He always felt like a dad to me. His hugs, his conversation, his charm and smile and laughter. After losing my own dad, seeing and talking with Pat, felt like being with my own dad again. I will always cherish him, it breaks my heart to watch you all lose him and for us to lose him as well. Love, hugs and prayers to you all.
