Patrick Lee "Pat" Hilligas

Pat passed away peacefully with his family by his side at McLaren Bay Region on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at the age of 67. He was born to the late John Hilligas and Florine (Bauer) Wackerle on January 26, 1956 in Bay City, Michigan. He was a member of Immanuel Luther Church for many years. Pat was a handy man and was always working on something. He was such an outgoing, kindhearted man who would do anything for anyone no matter what. He loved telling stories and teaching his children and grandchildren everything he knew. He also took the grandchildren for trailer rides in the wagon behind the lawn mower. He also loved music, animals and playing video games with the grandchildren. He had a heart of gold.
Pat is survived by his son, Patrick (Lauren) Hilligas and their children, Ada, Arianna, Alex, Aleah, Isabelle, Caidin and Gabriel and daughter, Samantha (Keith) Spresny and their children, Austin, Brenden, Kaitlyn, and Ethan; siblings In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepdad, Clare Wackerle.
Pat was also survived by his sister, Sheila Beattie who lives in Wisconsin, brother Michael John Hilligas who lives in Idaho, Tim Wackerle who lives in Marshall Michigan and Shane Wackerle who still lives in Bay City.
For myself, his brother Michael. We would talk nearly every day and enjoy reminiscing about old times.
I will miss him greatly and wish he could have made the trip to our home in the Idaho mountains.

A memorial service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at the Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Chris Garcia. Visitation will take place on Saturday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial cards for the wishes of the family will be available at the funeral home.
