Kara and Brendan, your dad meant so much to me as did your mom. It is so hard to find the right words when someone as special as your dad passes. Your dad was an important part of my life, not only as a dear friend but as a significant guiding light through so many of my own family moments.

He had a way of showing up quietly, just when I needed perspective, his kindness, steady wisdom and humor were always there when I needed it. Your parents both left such a beautiful mark on my heart and our community. They were a team in every sense, warm, generous and deeply caring.

I will always treasure the friendship we shared and the many ways your dad touched my life both personally and professionally. Kara, your dad was so proud of you and grateful for the way you handled all of the details of his life and care, he looked forward to your daily calls and his time with the grandkids. Brendan, your dad looked forward to your visits, your sense of humor, dinners together and how you showed up every day and stood at his side, how you loved Etta, Otto and Jude, you both were steady and loving. He loved you both so much.

I am so sad that I can't be there in person to celebrate his life, but please know that my heart will be with you both. I will be surrounding you with love, prayers, and the energy of peace and comfort as you navigate this difficult time. Blessings and Love Karen Ellenbecker
