Patrick Layden Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brumley-Mills Funeral Home - McAlester on Nov. 21, 2024.
Patrick Thomas Layden, 63, of McAlester, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, at his home, surrounded by his family. His life-marked by unwavering dedication, hard work, and a profound passion for both his family and his career-will be celebrated in a funeral service on Tuesday, November 26, at 2:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home, with Pastor Jason Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, from 5:30p.m. to 7:30 p.m at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.
Pat was born on April 18, 1961, in McAlester to Judge Robert Layden and Yvonne (DeMoss) Layden. He was a proud lifelong member of the community who served on several Boards, including the Boys and Girls Club and the McAlester Regional Health Center Foundation. He graduated from McAlester High School in 1979, later earning a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Juris Doctorate from Oklahoma City University Law School in 1987. As a third-generation attorney, Pat returned to McAlester, joining the Layden Law Firm and working alongside his family. His love for the law and dedication to his clients eventually led him to establish his own firm, Pat Layden Law Firm, where he served his clients with passion and commitment. In recent years, he welcomed his daughter, Danielle, to the firm as a fourth-generation attorney, ensuring the family legacy would continue.
Pat's drive and determination were apparent from a young age. He learned the value of hard work early in life and carried that lesson with him throughout his career. Though he was a committed professional, he never lost sight of the simple pleasures that brought him joy, always making time for family, travel, and adventure.
Pat was known for his sharp wit and adventurous spirit. A lover of travel, he explored the world with curiosity and enthusiasm. He was also a devoted fan of OU Football, never missing an opportunity to cheer on his beloved Sooners. Music and concerts were an important part of his life as well. He found great joy in the rhythm of a good song, even writing and "performing" his own musical creations for his family and office staff.
But above all, Pat's greatest pride and joy was his family. He married his soulmate, Kimberli Dunn, on October 22, 1994, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Danielle and Christina, and a proud father-in-law to Julian and Chance. Pat's relationship with his mother-in-law, Hazel Dunn, was one of deep affection, and she was like a second mother to him.
Pat was welcomed to Heaven by his parents, his father-in-law Marvin Dunn, and his siblings, Johnny, Bobby and Marcia Layden.
While he may no longer be with us, his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched. Pat's passion for life, his commitment to his work, and his unwavering love for his family made him a truly remarkable man. His absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will remain a beacon of love, strength, and the example of a life well-lived.
