His Legacy Patrick Michael MacDonald, 36, passed away March 31, 2022. He was born on June 6, 1985, in Southfield, Michigan to Douglas Carl MacDonald and Maureen Mary O'Grady. Patrick will forever be remembered as a positive ball of energy who loved to see people smile and often made those around him do so with his signature, unequivocally "Patrick" laugh and upbeat personality. All who encountered him instantly felt his genuine, kind heart. Very few people can command smiles from everyone in a room and Patrick's presence did just that, he was often described as the life of the party.
Never judgmental and greeted everyone, of all walks of life, with open arms. A survivor of countless things, he was an inspiration to many. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Patrick during his 36 years of life, among them: Always be positive, even when going through struggles; if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all; always tell people you love them; never skip leg day.
A craftsman in his trade, a work ethic like none other. A proud uncle who loved spending time with his niece and nephews and the best brother you could ever ask for. A lover of his boat, making people laugh, Crown Apple, the Chain of Lakes, volleyball games on the Baseline Sandbar, staying in chiseled shape and spending time with friends and family. To know him was to love him and he is, and always will be, loved by many. The world could use more Patrick MacDonald's.
His Family Patrick will be missed by; his mother, Maureen; siblings, Ryan, Matthew, Meghan, Melissa and Trudy; his beloved niece and nephews, Colton, Faith, Myles, and Myles' soon to be sibling; his grandfather, Grampa Mac; his significant other, Shannon; and friends that he considered family. He is preceded in death by his father, Douglas MacDonald and his grandparents, John B. O'Grady, Evelyn O'Grady & Shirley MacDonald.
His Farewell Patrick's family and friends are invited to gather at a Community Farewell on April 7th from 2pm – 7pm, at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel, Michigan. From 6pm-7pm we will invite friends and family to share a short memory or story of Patrick. We also invite you to bring hard copies of your favorite photos of or with Patrick to be displayed at the community farewell.
A short visitation and memorial service will be held on April 8th from 11am-1pm, also at Borek Jennings Funeral Home. This summer, Patrick's Family will be organizing a larger celebration of Patrick's life on the Baseline sandbar, more details to come.
