Spear-Miller Funeral HomePatrick James Maher, age 49, of Wallingford passed away Friday, July 11, 2025. Raised in Fairfield, the son of the late Richard and Elizabeth Maher, he had been a lifelong area resident. Patrick graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Trumbull and received a BA Degree in Communications from the University of Connecticut. Patrick loved boating and fishing and would often be seen fishing Penfield Reef or at Southport Harbor. His love for boating led to him opening Amity Fiberglass, LLC, specializing in fiberglass repair and fabrication, and his craftsmanship was highly regarded. He will be sadly missed by his four siblings: Mike Maher and his wife Julie of Trumbull, Ann Gorton and her husband Gary of Trumbull, Katie Maher and John Rocke of Bolivia, NC and Thomas Maher of Houston, TX; 6 cherished nieces and nephews: Tom Gorton and his wife Shannon of Shelton, Megan Gorton of Kissimmee, FL, Christopher Gorton of Virginia Beach, VA, Ryan Gorton and his fiancé Jackie Rizzitelli of Shelton, Emma Gorton and her fiancé Michael Messina of Wolcott and Kaitlyn Gorton of Trumbull; two great-nephews: Liam and Greyson Gorton; a very special aunt, Jean Greif of Coggon, IA, his loving girlfriend Melissa E. Mullane of Wallingford and his close friend Ron Gaul of Milford.
Patrick will be interred in the family plot near the mausoleum in Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 3, 2025. Memories and dinner will be shared at 6:00 that evening at the Gorton residence at 2038 Huntington Turnpike in Trumbull, all are welcome.
