Patrick "Pat" Mahony, born September 24, 1940, passed away October 1, 2025 at his home in Broomfield, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Staten Island, New York, Pat was the eldest son of Ellen Christine Bohane and Patrick Mahony, Sr., and the older brother of Robert Emmett Mahony, who all preceded him in death.
In 1970, he married his wife of 55 years, Helen King. In addition to his loving wife, Pat is survived by his younger brother, Austin Brown, two daughters, Sheila Elizabeth and Kathleen Ann Mahony, a son, Patrick Mahony Jr. two, grandsons, Owen and Gannon Mahony, and three nieces, Samantha, Aubrey and Alexis.
Pat's long career as a National Elevator mechanic began in 1961 and spanned nearly five decades. He was proud to have been part of the crew that built the elevators in the original New York World Trade Center. Drawn to the mountains, he and Helen moved to Colorado in 1971, where he enjoyed skiing, hiking, and camping with his family.
Pat had a playful and generous spirit. He loved practical jokes and delighted in making his family laugh. He was proud of his Irish heritage and was close with his mother's family, who still lives there. He loved to travel, visiting Ireland multiple times and explored the world with his wife on adventures that took them to Italy, Germany, Egypt, Spain, Ecuador, Argentina, Chile, Tanzania, and Kenya.
Even as he built a life in Colorado, he remained close with his childhood friends from Staten Island. He will be missed by many across Ireland, New York and Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Pat's name to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
