Patrick Martin Obituary

Patrick W. Martin, age 68, of Deer Park, Illinois, died peacefully on October 26th, 2025. Patrick was born in Müenchweiler, Germany, October 26, 1957, the son of the late William and Marcia (nee Meabon) Martin.

He is survived by his wife Lisa Martin, his sister Pam (Tony) Cronyn of Clarence Center, NY and his brother, DJ (Mary) Martin of Glastonbury, CT. He was the uncle to Nicole and Elizabeth Martin and Jacob and Joseph Cronyn.

Patrick graduated from North Tonawanda High School in 1975. He went on to Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. From there, he went on to law school at the Chicago-Kent School of Law in the Illinois Institute of Technology graduating in 1983. He was a member of the Illinois State and American Bar Associations, the Illinois Association of Defense Counsel, and the Illinois Workers' Compensation Association. Patrick specialized in the defense of employers in workers' compensation and third-party matters. He had extensive workers' compensation trial experience and tried and argued numerous cases on behalf of employers throughout the State of Illinois. He had been licensed for 42 years. He took great pride in his work and was endeared by many in his profession because of his passion for fighting for his clients.

Patrick had many lifelong friends from college where he played varsity soccer and lived in a house called Rainsoft, where Friday nights were never boring. He was an avid golfer with a steady group of friends who would escape Chicago winters on golf trips to warm destinations. His spirit and competitiveness always led to a good time. Somehow, he picked up the nickname, "The Human ATM" which meant he was always invited back.

Growing up in a suburb of Buffalo, NY made him a lifelong Sabres and Bills fan. He was a long-time Bills season ticket holder up until a few years ago. He attended all four Super Bowls the Bills were in during the 1990's. He would travel to many different NFL cities to see the Bills play and explore new places. Curious, adventurous, mischievous, loyal, hard-working, and kind are all words used to describe Patrick. He was loved by many and will be missed greatly.

There will be a memorial service held on Sunday, November 2nd at 3:00 CST at the Village of Barrington Church, 1600 East Main Street, Barrington, IL. The service will be livestreamed here: https://www.vcbweb.org/funeralstream.

He will be laid to rest at Acacia Park Cemetery in North Tonawanda, NY followed by a celebration of life at a date to be determined.

As Patrick was an avid animal lover, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Barrington Area Animal Rescue and Kennel NFP (B.A.A.R.K) at www.baarkdogrescue.org or Barb's Precious Rescue at www.barbsrescue.org.

I have known Pat for over 20 years. He was our w/c attorney at Hagerty Bros in E.Peoria, IL We clicked the minute we talked. I can´t say enough good things about him. He was a wonderful man and he was dating Lisa at the time. He always made you feel important and he loved his wife. I was hoping someday I could have met her. You will be missed so much. I would send people I knew that needed a great w/c attorney to him. Pat, I am so sorry for you and go rest in the arms of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Lisa I am so sad for you also. He loved you and I wish you the best. Love you Pat Martin and thank you for all you have done in your life. You were a great man. Until we meet again my dear friend. You will be missed by many. Love you Pat.

I remember Patrick for his competitive spirit in high school sports. It is obvious that he lived a full life after he left North Tonawanda. May he rest in eternal peace and may his family find peace and comfort knowing how much we all thought of Pat.
