Patrick "Pat" R. McGowan passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center.
A Celebration of his life will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, IA 50401 with Mark Doebel officiating. Per his wishes, he will be cremated. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until the service. Following the services, a final ride for Patrick will take him around town ending at the Moose Lodge where the celebration will continue.
Patrick "Pat" Raymond McGowan was born April 30, 1954 in Ionia, IA the son of Jack McGowan and Jean (Marion) Peters. Growing up in the area, Pat graduated from Mason City High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge he traveled to California, working for his cousin before returning home, where he worked at Curries for many years.
Pat was a calm, kind, goofy gentleman with a heart of gold. Time spent with his kids and grandkids brought him great joy. His beloved companion, Karma, was always at his side, the two were inseparable. Time on the open road, riding his Harley, was treasured. He looked forward to time spent with friends and family at Burkes and never turned down a good party.
He was just "Pat", never trying to be more. A simple, loving, goofy man who cared for everyone around him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Nicole Somers, Kasandra (Stefany) Somers, Thomas (Samantha) Mackey, David Wilde, Kalvin (Savannah) Wilde, Coton (Andrew) Reynolds, and Raechel (Dusty) Boecker; grandchildren, Dominic Heng, Destiney (Camryn) Somers, Kash, Kal and Aiden Mackey, Desere, Logan, Asher, Nova and Joseph Wilde, Lily, Chandler, Brylee and Beckham Renolds, Sarah (Christian DeLeon) Ham, Shannon (Zac) Gathman, Terry Ham, Marissa (Chris) Cunningham, Kayla McGowan and Robert McGowan Jr.; great-grandchildren, Dominic Heng Jr., Ryan, Dylan and Ian DeLeon, and Aiden and Peyton Gathman; mother, Jean; friend, Cynthia Santee; as well as numerous extended family members and countless friends.
His son, Robert McGowan passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Preceding him in death are his father, Jack; son, Michael; brothers, Michael and Terry "Tramp"; and four legged companion, Karma.
