Patrick McGraw Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Howard Funeral Home - Boonville on Feb. 3, 2026.
Patrick Daniel McGraw, 79, passed away on February 2, 2026, at Lakeview Healthcare and Rehab in Boonville, MO. His last year was challenging as he dealt with Parkinson's disease and Lewy Body Dementia, but he kept a positive attitude.

Dan was the first New Year's baby of 1947 in Lancaster, OH, born to the late Mabel "Myrt" and John McGraw. Growing up in Bucyrus OH he attended Holy Trinity Elementary and Bucyrus High School (class of 1965). He played Little League softball, was on the track team, and played Varsity basketball.

Dan served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1966 – 1969. After that he moved to New England where he worked as a disc jockey and a restaurant manager. In 1975 he married Susan Coombs and they had a son, Timothy. The couple later divorced.

Dan married Karen Lage in 1992. They later divorced and since he hated cold weather, Dan relocated to St. Petersburg, FL. He was an IT specialist at T-Mobile for many years. Dan enjoyed playing tennis and basketball, singing karaoke, trivia contests, and playing cards. He avidly followed college sports, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes. He began listening to pop music in the 1950's and was a veritable treasure trove of knowledge about the songs, the artists, and the pop charts.

In later years Dan moved to Iowa to live with his sister Diane. He is survived by his son Tim (Jessie) McGraw and grandchildren Devonn and Kylee of Danvers MA, his sisters Sandy (Bob) Laipply of Bucyrus OH, Penny (Steve) Lengyel of Lincoln CA, and (Deborah) Diane McGraw of North Liberty IA, and many nieces and nephews.

He will be buried in the Veterans Cemetery at Higginsville, Missouri.

Arrangements are under the direction of Howard-Millard Funeral Home, 1397 Ashley Rd., Boonville, Mo 65233 (660) 882-3381. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.howardfh.com.
