Patrick McLoughlin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Flowers-Leedy & Allen Funeral Homes - Peru on Jan. 28, 2026.
Patrick Joseph "Jerry" McLoughlin, 88, of Peru, passed away at home on Saturday, January 24, 2026, following an extended illness.

He was born March 8, 1937, in Dublin, Ireland, to Michael Joseph McLoughlin and Anastasia McLoughlin (Mahon). He married Janet Marie (Whitton) McLoughlin on February 18, 1976, and she survives.

Jerry came to the United States in 1957 as a plasterer. He was known for his quick wit and love of life, traits that served him well throughout his career as a restaurateur. He also loved sports of all kinds, especially hurling and football, and had a lifelong passion for Irish music, singing, and dancing. As a young man, he rarely missed a dance, was always ready with a song, and carried that love of Irish music with him throughout his life. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and cherished memories.

He was baptized at St. Michael's Church in Athy, County Kildare, and was also a member of Parkview United Methodist Church in Peru, Indiana.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his sons, Patrick Michael (Julie) McLoughlin of Latham, and Andrew Joseph (Megan) McLoughlin of Liverpool; grandchildren Bridget, Brendan, and Liam McLoughlin; brother Brendan (Cici) McLoughlin; sisters Kathleen Moloney and Anne (Pat) Loughman; sister-in-law Sue McLoughlin; and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Noel McLoughlin and Liam (Mary) McLoughlin; brother-in-law Francis Moloney; and sister Olive Harte.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Jerry by sharing a laugh, reaching out to someone you love, and living life with the same joy and generosity he showed every day.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
