I have had the honor of knowing Pat Norman for over 40 years as a dear friend and as the great leader of his village in all of his many roles, but most especially as a standard bearer of goodness, dignity and Suqpiaq Aluutiq traditions. To know Pat was to know greatness of character wrapped in humility and love of family, community and culture. Pat embodied the gifts that make us true Children of God--he thirsted for justice, sought peace and worked tirelessly to make the world a better place. He embodied the attributes of a leader-charismatic, caring, thoughtful and concerned to do that which is best, even if unpopular. He was a Tuyuk who knew the old ways that preserved the Port Graham people for generations. He was guide to the modern era. He was a wise judge. Memory Eternal.
