Patrick Lee Dion, age 58, of McCook, NE passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025 in McCook.
Pat was born November 28, 1967, in Panama City, Panama to parents Larry and Mary (Ackermann) Dion. He was one of six children. Pat graduated from Roaring Fork High School, Carbondale, CO, with the Class of 1986. Following high school, in 1986, Pat enlisted in the United States Navy. He served as a Petty Officer 2nd Class Damage Controlman and was stationed aboard the USS Antietam out of Long Beach, CA. Pat was honorably discharged in 1989.
In June 1993, Pat married Darlene Darien in Carbondale, CO. To this union two children, Caden and Kaylee, were born. Pat worked as a general contractor in the construction industry for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, playing golf, woodworking, collecting and polishing rocks, summer days on Lake Powell, and spending time in the outdoors camping, hunting or fishing.
Pat was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Those left to celebrate his life include his children, Caden (Maddy) Dion of Longmont, CO and Kaylee (Zack) Brown of Custer, SD; parents, Larry (Mary) Dion of Rifle, CO; brothers, Jon (Patti) Dion of American Canyon, CA, Tim (Lexie) Dion of Glendale, AZ, Dan (Denise) Dion of Rifle, CO and Tom (Carrie) Dion of Glenwood Springs, CO; sister, Gerri Blunt of Fairfield, CA; and grandchildren, Casey Brown, Carlie Brown, Cameron Dion and twin grandbabies on the way. Pat also spent sixteen years as a wonderful partner to Sheila Haberkon, McCook, NE, and was a stepfather to her children, Stephanie and Matthew Haberkon, both of Colorado.
As we navigate this difficult time, we are seeking support to help cover the unexpected funeral and memorial expenses. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help us honor Pat’s life in a way that reflects the love and joy he brought into the world.
