Patrick Richards Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Page Funeral Home - Burlington on Dec. 6, 2025.
Patrick W Richards Sr.

Patrick was born on March 17, 1940, to Margaret Richards (nee England) in the town of Hucknall in the County of Nottingham, England and moved to West Bay England as a child. At the age of 18, he traveled to North America via Canada where he worked in a radio station in Winnipeg Canada. He enjoyed traveling throughout Canada and the United States. He eventually settled in Los Angeles where he started working at a local radio station. During this time a young lady from New Jersey who was living in California, caught his eye. In 1966 he moved to New Jersey with Nancy where he remained for the next 57 years of their marriage.

He joined Hope Hose Fire Co #2 in 1970, rose through the ranks, became Fire Chief from 1982-1983 and served again from 1986 to 1987. Patrick was one of the first Fire Commissioners that started and is still known as the Beverly City Fire District #1. He was employed by Sybron Chemical in Pemberton Township as a Chemical Operator. With his knowledge and experience, he started the fire brigade and held the position of Fire Chief.

When not firefighting, he enjoyed his family, listening to music, reading, fishing, and the family dogs. He often traveled back to Canada with his family, to visit friends and revisit fishing grounds.

He is predeceased by his mother Margaret J Richards, and his beloved wife Nancy Richards (nee Jenkins). Survived by his four sons Patrick Richards (Roxie), Chris, Kevin (Kristina), Sean (Sarah), his daughter Margaret, 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brother-in-law Harry Jenkins, and sisters-in-law Michaelle Jenkins D'Anna and Karen Jenkins.

Visitation is on Thursday Dec 11th from 6pm to 8pm at Pages Funeral Home, Union St Burlington City and his internment, along with Nancy is on Friday Dec 12th at 10:30 am at the Beverly Monument Cemetery, Bridgeboro Rd Edgewater Park.
