Kevin D Matthews

Kevin’s life began on July 5, 1955 in Saginaw, the son of Douglas K. and Ernestine (Richmond) Matthews. He is a 1973 graduate of Dowagiac Union High School and Southwestern Michigan College. He was employed as a Computer Aided Design operator for Harmon Industries in Elkhart for 18 years. Anyone who knew Kevin knew his passion for working on old cars and pickup trucks. He was a loyal Detroit Red Wings and Michigan Wolverine fan and he enjoyed wrestling ever since competing in high school. His loving family includes his parents Douglas K. and Ernestine F. Matthews of Dowagiac, his siblings Linda (Barry) Gardner of Dowagiac, Terry (Sally) Matthews of Dowagiac, Mikel Sr. (Shelley) Matthews of Mahomet, IL, and Greg (Susan) Matthews of Dowagiac; nieces and nephews Dawn (Don Jr.) East of Dowagiac, Chad (Tammy) Gardner of Niles, Lisa (Gregg) Speaks of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Ronald ( Heidi Behnke) Matthews of Dowagiac, Mikel Matthews, Jr. of Champlain, IL, Tami (Andy) Erickson of Georgia, Heather Matthews of Dowagiac and Douglas E. Matthews of Dowagiac, numerous great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Kevin passed away unexpectedly on Saturday December 11, 2010 at his home. He is preceded in death by his brother Ronald D. Matthews in 1971. His family will gather with friends on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel. His funeral service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church led by Pastor John Kasper. Kevin will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
