Cuca "Mai" is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Manuel Rivas Garza "Pai", her parents and siblings Francisca Torres, Guadalupe Torres, Sofia Silva, Maria Refugio Torres, Mercedes Rios, Eusebio Torres, Jr. and Abelardo "AC" Torres.
Her affection, dedication and devoted love for her children, Salome Garza Torres, Martin (Dolores) Garza, Dora (Joe Angel) Flores, Jose (Raquel) Garza, Melba (+Terry) Martinez, Daniel "Danny" (Michelle) Garza, grandchildren, Jessica (Mike), Meli, Sarah, Dayan, Joe, Jr (Shavana), Chris (Michelle), Lizette, Cory, Martin, Jr, Jack, Fernando, Jimmy, Adrian, Joseph, Justyn, Jazmine, Johnny, great-grandchildren, Alex, A.J. and Evelyn and also Manuel Garza, Jr, Lydia Garza, and +Delma Garza and their children, grand-children and great grandchildren will be remembered and cherished forever.
A visitation will take place on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer of the holy rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos, followed by interment at Los Soldados Cemetery. Everyone in attendance is encouraged to wear maroon colored clothing, her favorite color.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Martin Garza, Jose Garza, Daniel Garza, Christopher Aguilar, Joe Garza, Jr, and Martin Garza, Jr. At her request, the honorary pallbearers are Salome G. Torres, Dora Flores, and Melba Martinez.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers, as well as the dedicated staff at Pas Home Care, Promesa Home Care, Gentiva Hospice, and Sun Valley Rehab.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, located at 657 Springmart Blvd., Brownsville, Texas (956) 350-8485.
