Kathy Newby, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on February 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Kathy was born on September 12, 1939, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Earl Blackburn and Dolly May Slavens.
She was the last surviving member of eight siblings, a role she carried with strength, grace, and deep love for family.
On October 20, 1980, Kathy married the love of her life, Robert Newby. Together they shared many cherished years until his passing on June 9, 2020. Their love was steady, faithful, and enduring.
Kathy found her greatest joy in time spent with her family. She loved traveling, square dancing, and enthusiastically cheering on her favorite sports teams. Her home--and her heart—were always open, and those who knew her felt instantly welcomed by her kindness and warmth.
She is survived by her loving children, Mark, Scott, and Kristy; many cherished grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and most recently, a precious great-great-grandchild. Her legacy of love continues through each generation she so deeply adored.
Kathy will be remembered most for her endless love, gentle kindness, steadfast faith, and wholehearted devotion to the Lord. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her faith and inspiration to all who knew her.
