Patsy Becker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Healy Chapel Funeral & Cremation Services - Sugar Grove Facility on Mar. 16, 2026.
In the liminal space of twilight, surrounded by her children, Patsy Sue Becker, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026. Patsy was born to John and Lela Pounds on May 30, 1942 in Corning, Arkansas. Patsy moved to Aurora, Illinois at a very young age and remained in the surrounding area for much of her life.

Patsy married the love of her life, Herbert Becker, and together, they built a life filled with love and family. In 1991, Patsy and her husband pursued their retirement dream and relocated to Nancy, Kentucky where they enjoyed the beauty of Lake Cumberland in their backyard. Their home was a welcoming haven for friends and family. Patsy returned to Illinois in 2007 and, for the past thirteen years, has been a resident of Sandwich, Illinois.

An avid quilter, Patsy poured her creativity and care into every stitch. She was a member of the Kalico Kwilters in Yorkville, Illinois, where she found joy in both the craft and the friendships that grew around it. Her quilts-warm, colorful, and made with love-were a reflection of the way she moved through the world.

Caring for others came naturally to Patsy. She valued her family above all else, and her gentle, dependable presence was a constant source of comfort. Even in retirement, she continued to serve, working as a caregiver for several years and offering the same compassion to others that she gave so freely at home.

Patsy was a member of Cornerstone Church in Sandwich, Illinois. She valued the friendships that were kindled within the church congregation and especially loved volunteering at the church's food pantry. Her generosity was abundant and one of the many ways her faith guided her.

Patsy's family and friends will remember her for her warmth, her creativity, and her unwavering love. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the hands she held, and the many beautiful quilts she leaves behind.

Patsy is survived by her son, David (Kellie) Blankenship of Sugar Grove, IL; three daughters, Debra Sizemore of Florence, Ky, Connie (Jeff) Palmer of Lincoln, NE, Vickie (Mike) White of Sheridan, IL; 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Holder of Aurora, Illinois, Joyce Smith of Henry, Illinois; two brothers, Donald (Linda) Pounds of Montgomery, IL and Bill (Joyce) Pounds of Carthage, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

Patsy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herbert Becker; her parents, Reverend John and Lela Pounds; three sisters, Rosalie Miller, Ella Williams, and Shirley Niswonger; and two brothers, John Pounds Jr and Harvey Pounds.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 3 PM to 8 PM at The Healy Chapel Sugar Grove, 370 Division Dr., Sugar Grove, IL 60554. The funeral ceremony will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 10 AM, also at The Healy Chapel Sugar Grove. Interment will take place on Monday, March 23, 2026 at 12 PM at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL 60421. Memorials may be directed to the Cornerstone Church Food Pantry.
