Patsy Bell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Starr Funeral Home, Inc. - Hemphill on Jan. 16, 2026.
Patsy Ann Bell, 75, passed away on January 14, 2026, in Hemphill, Texas. Born on April 5, 1950, in Grant, New Mexico to James Mohr and Nettie Kallackie Mohr, Patsy lived a life marked by creativity, faith, and dedication to her family.

Patsy spent her early years in New Mexico and other Western States, and later moved to Hemphill, Texas, where she lived for 14 years. She was a devout Christian and a talented artist, with one of her pieces published by Western New Mexico State University. Patsy's passion for art was paralleled by her love for gardening, especially her flowers, herbs, vines, and orchids, which brought beauty to her surroundings and joy to those around her.

After earning her bachelor's degree, Patsy embarked on a successful career as the owner and operator of her own hair salon, where she was known for her skillful hands and warm conversations.

Patsy is survived by her sons, Shane Holmes and his wife, Magan, of Hemphill, and Shawn Kellar and his wife, Estella, of Lufkin; her brother, John Mohr and his wife, Karol, of California; and her sisters, Melanie Barnes of Tucson, AZ, Susan Britton of Silver City, NM, and Laura Porter of San Antonio. She will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Monica, Eric (and his wife, Hailey), Christie, Zoey, and Aryrlin; and her great-grandchild, J. D. Keller.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Bell; her parents, James and Nettie Mohr; her brothers, Jimbo, Joe, and J. B.; and her sister, Betty.

Arrangements are under the care of Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas. Patsy's life will be celebrated by her family, friends, and those touched by her kindness and creativity. Her legacy of love and artistry will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
