Patsy Benson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O.T. Allen and Son Funeral Home - Alto on Dec. 21, 2023.
Patsy Ruth Maxwell Benson, 87, formally of Richmond, Texas, passed away on December 20, 2023, in Lufkin, Texas.
Patsy was born on September 18, 1936, in Henderson, Texas, to Sydney Clifford and Stella Beth Maxwell. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston and was married to her Baylor University sweetheart, Jerry, for 66 years, spending only a handful of nights apart during that time. While at Baylor, she was an Athenian and was proud of her eventual affiliation with the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Patsy was a dedicated educator in HISD and later at St. Marks Episcopal School in Houston. Upon retirement, she continued in the field working as a sales
representative and consultant for numerous textbook and educational companies. Always a social butterfly, she and Jerry enjoyed their time with lifelong friends made at Bellaire Methodist Church, Sunrise Beach, Horseshoe Bay and Tiki Island. However, her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved the times spent with them at their beloved lake house on Lake LBJ and with family at Christmas and birthday gatherings.
Patsy is survived by her husband Jerry and daughters Marlene Sowell (Michael) and LouAnn Fischer; 5 grandchildren: Jacob Springer (Rosa), Austin Springer, Dillon Springer, Bethany Fischer and Maddie Nona (Justin); and 2 great grandchildren: Ava and Mia Nona. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Jan
Benson (Joan) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the covenant fund at PineCrest Methodist Retirement Community. 1302 Tom Temple Drive, Lufkin, Texas, 75904.

I was friends with Patsy and her family at Bellaire United Methodist Church when our children were young. I found her to be a very fun loving person and that she cared deeply about her family. Love, Margaret Alexander
