Short Funeral Home - DelmarIt is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patsy L. Bridge, who passed away peacefully at her home in Delmar on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on April 13, 1938, in Delmar, MD, she was the daughter of the late Russell Ford Brewington and Helen Virginia Brewington. Patsy was a beloved member of the community and an inspiring figure in the lives of her family and friends. Patsy spent her career with the U.S. Postal Service, where she was known for her dedication and friendly demeanor. Her passion for history shone through her active involvement in the Delmar Historical Society, where she also served as president, fostering a love for the past in others. A devoted member of Melson Church in Delmar, Patsy enjoyed gathering with her church family. She was also known for her love of antiquing and was an avid doll collector. Her dog, Rosie, was a constant companion and brought her much happiness.
Left to cherish her memory are her four daughters, Cindy Dayton (John Sr), Misty Fields (Danny Massey), Sandy Rose (Robert), and Tammy Fields, a stepdaughter, Debbie Iafielice (Victor), along with her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, who will carry forward her legacy of love and laughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John S. Bridge, sons, Timmy and Buddy Fields, brothers, Ford and Charles Brewington, son-in-law, John W. Dayton Sr, and stepson John Raymond Bridge.
Family and friends are invited to honor Patsy's life at a funeral service that will take place on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The interment will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar.
In memory of Mrs. Bridge, contributions may be sent to the Delmar Historical & Arts Society, P.O. Box 551, Delmar, DE 19940 or to Melsons Church, 32705 Melson Road, Delmar, MD 21875.
