Patsy Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Torbert Funeral Chapels on Sep. 11, 2023.
Patsy Ann Brown went to her heavenly home on September 8, 2023 to join her beloved daughter, Peggy.
Patsy was born in Greenville, NC on May 10, 1945. She graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 1963 and lived all of her adult life in Camden, DE.
She was employed for 5 years at the Delaware State News as a 10-point typist. During her job, she typed for Jack Smyth's Editorial column, Jack K. Russell "Rustling Around" and Jack Costello "I Keep my Powder Dry" plus all the cutlines under photos. Patsy also had an active career with Capital School district for 34 years as a school secretary, 21 years at Central Middle School and 13 years at Towne Point Elementary School where she came to know and love so many of the students and staff. After retirement at Capital School District, she worked as a substitute doing many odd jobs at the Capital District Office inputting data for school choice for 6 years and substituting at some of the elementary schools. She worked 8 years (part-time) as the Membership Secretary at Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover. She continued to embrace her faithful journey as a servant with Rev. Dr. William Fitzhugh and the late Rev. LeRoy Jones. She also served under Pastor Donald Godwin and the late Pastor Harry Baxter. She journeyed through her spiritual life and was happy wherever tasks she was assigned. Patsy retired on June 29, 2012 from Wesley under the leadership of Pastor Amy Yarnall. She did volunteering and went back to Capital School District as a secretary substitute.
Patsy was a retired member of the Delaware Association Education Office Personnel. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge, member of the Capital School District Secretary Association and National Educational Secretaries Association. Patsy also participated in the Woodside Adult Program for disabled adults, a member of ARC, where she supported her daughter, Peggy, through many trials and tribulations. Patsy loved working in her gardens, especially with her roses and bulbs that bloomed every spring. She loved decorating her house inside and out for every holiday. Patsy also had 2 dogs that she loved dearly, Sake, her little boy Lhasa Apso, and Peaches, her little girl Bichon that passed away. In later years she took in an abandoned cat that she named Angel. Angel became her comfort after Peggy's passing. She loved playing Candy Crush on line with her daughter Paula.
Patsy was the daughter of Pauline Wilson Tripp and William Lawrence Tripp, and the step daughter of Al Barrow all who preceded her in death. She had married John Albert Brown who also preceded her in death as well as her daughter Peggy J. Everett.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula M. Everett – Leslie (Joey); her beautiful granddaughter, Jessica Ashley Hengst; sister, Loretta Martin (Charles); nieces, Elyse Inglese (Steve), Christina Bellotti (Lael); great nephew, Max Inglese; as well as many nieces and nephews from her 1st marriage to George Everett who also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held 7PM, Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 5-7pm.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Wesley United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.

Patsy was our school secretary for many years at Towne Point. She was kind and gracious and always had a smile for the children and staff.
She loved her family dearly and I want to send my heartfelt condolences to each of them. Miriam Mullen
