Patsy Ruth Burney

Patsy Richardson Burney, 85, of Moulton passed away the 28th day of December, 2024 in Decatur, Alabama. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM till 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM with Rob Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery.

Patsy was born August 13, 1939 to Elmer and Julia Elizabeth Richardson. She was a graduate of Coffee High School, Florence State College (BS), and the University of North Alabama (MA). She was an elementary school teacher in many schools in North Alabama and finished her career at Moulton Elementary School after thirty plus years. Mrs. Burney loved her students and co-workers like family. Her favorite times were spent at Orange Beach and Elk River with her family, grandchildren and, of course, her dogs.

Survivors include her two sons: Billy C. Burney II (Melissa) and J. Brent Burney (Christie), four grandchildren: Sarah Grace, Adeline, Schyler, and Ezra Burney.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Billy C. Burney, her parents, and her sister, Ann Sockwell.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family extends special thanks to the staff at Riverside Senior Living and Hospice of the Valley for their love and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley and Central Baptist Church Building Fund.
