Patsy Carter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Henderson & Sons Funeral Home - Oaknoll Chapel - Rome on Jun. 22, 2025.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ms. Patsy Hart Carter, a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend. She went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the age of 78.
From a young age, Patsy had a special gift for music. She learned to play the piano by ear and found great joy in making music with her beloved mother, who played the organ. Their duets became cherished moments that echoed the warmth of their bond. A woman of deep faith, Patsy was a devout member of Faith Baptist Church, where she remained an active member. Her church family brought her immense joy, and she, in turn, enriched their lives with her unwavering faith and loving spirit. Patsy was passionate about gospel music and loved to sing, often sharing her voice with others in gospel groups and monthly gatherings at the Shannon Lodge alongside dear friends.
In her earlier years, Patsy enjoyed the joy and fellowship of square dancing, always bringing energy and kindness wherever she went. She carried that same joy into every role she filled throughout her life.
Selfless and nurturing, Patsy was proud of her career at Floyd Medical Center and retired in January of 2003. She also cared lovingly for her mother throughout adulthood, especially during her mother's final illness, but above all, Patsy was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest treasures. She poured herself into their lives, offering endless support, gentle guidance, and unconditional love.
Her legacy is one of faith, service, music, and love. Patsy will be deeply missed, but her melodies, laughter, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Kimberly Etheridge (Dale) and Rebecca Mathis (Deven); her grandchildren, Courtney Weeks, Zachary Mathis (Cattabrie), and Caleb Mathis; her great-grandchildren, Anslee Weeks, Ayden Jones, and Malcolm Mathis; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Fletcher Hart and Pauline Jewel Southard (formerly Cowart); her grandson Alex Smart; and her brother, Wayne Hart.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home Oaknoll Chapel with Rev. Greg Cowart and Rev. Alfred Little officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Hart, Andy Hart, Zachary Mathis, Caleb Mathis, Dwight Jackson, and Alan Jackson.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, is honored to serve the family of Ms. Patsy Hart Carter.

This was one of the sweetest souls I have ever met! I will never forget her kindness! When my Daddy had to do rehabilitation because he fell he ended up at the same place as Ms Pat! And she would check on him all the time! She was loved very much by her family and by any one who knew her! I just want my sister in law and my 2 handsome nephews to know how sorry I am for their loss! As far as my brother I´m sure it´s like losing our Momma all over again due to the fact he loved this Lady so much and she had been in his life since he was 18 years old! I am praying for the whole family! We love y´all and are only a call away if y´all need anything! RIP Ms. Pat! You never have to wake up scared not knowing where you are or why you are there! You will never suffer pain again! I will miss you and I loved you also! If you see my Momma on the other side please hug her and tell her we love and Miss her! So sad but also joyous! She was a God loving woman and there are no doubts where she is now!
