Patsy Jean Cook, age 84, of Hillsdale, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at her home. She was born on October 22, 1940, in Adrian, to Forrest and Florence (Crane) May. She married Kenneth Cook on August 27, 1960, and he preceded her in death on July 4, 2023.
Patsy grew up in Manitou Beach area and graduated from Addison High School. In the late 60's she and her husband Ken purchased a small farm outside of Hillsdale where they worked side by side growing that farm into some of the best producing ground in Hillsdale County. All while living in Traverse City, working at MBD Bank as a Trust Officer. Raising two girls, hauling them to horse shows and growing one of the best Paint Horse Herds in the state at that time. After retiring to Hillsdale in the early 2000's, she even turned on schoolteacher mode as homeschooling support for her granddaughter. Up until about a few years ago, you would often find Patsy out on the farm in a tractor sharing the workload. She was often "unseen" in the background, but her influence and support was evident in everything her family did. She was the heartbeat of the family, and always made sure their needs were met before her own.
Patsy is survived by two daughters, Michelle (James) Caldwell, and Wendy Cook; and one granddaughter, Kaitlyn Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 63 years, Ken.
There will be no services at this time for Patsy Cook.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
