Patsy Cox Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fairmount Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematory on Jul. 15, 2025.
Patsy Vale Cox, 80, of Denver, CO, passed away in peace on July 15, 2025. She was born on September 20, 1944, the fourth of 9 children, to Arthur and Idell Schutte in Greybull, Wyoming. Preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Rudolf Cox, and her son, Nick Cox, she is survived by her daughter, Susanna Kochis; son, Paul Cox; and grandchild, Phoenix Cox. She will be most remembered by everyone for sending real birthday and anniversary cards every year to all her family and friends.

She had a wonderful childhood, despite contracting polio at age 8, with her eight brothers and sisters; Diana, Julia, Michael, Kay, Peter, Christina, Angela, and Timothy. After graduation from high school in 1962, Patsy moved to Seattle, WA and worked for Travelers Insurance. After learning that Seattle weather was not for her, she moved to Denver, CO, where she worked at a bank. Not too soon after moving to Denver, she met the love of her life, Rudy, and had 3 fantastic children. Once the babies came, she stayed at home to raise them until she felt they were old enough for her to go back to work. Her next job was at Public Service Co of Colorado (Xcel Energy), where she thrived and stayed for 17 years. She retired at age 55 but still kept busy with part-time work for several years. Patsy always loved singing and was in quite a few choirs, including her church and the Public Service Choir. She also loved bowling and was in several leagues over the years. She had a love of reading, keeping up with her family, baking, traveling, especially cruises, collecting Hummels, embroidery and crocheting and going to operas and theaters.

To some of us she was an incredible mother, to Phoenix she was an awesome grandmother, and to Rudy she was the most loving wife. But, to all of us, she was an amazing friend who we will miss greatly.
