Patsy Jean Cox, 79, passed away on October 31, 2025, in Childress, Texas. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Tell Babtist Cemetary. A visitation is scheduled for Monday, November 3, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home.

Patsy was born on November 3, 1945, in Clarksville, Texas, to William Hammer and Bonnie Faye (Adams) Hammer.

Patsy attended school in Clarksville, Texas. After graduating, she worked as a model for various stores in downtown Dallas. Her first career was as a stewardess for Braniff Airlines.

After marrying her husband, Mike, they owned and operated a couple of gas stations in Irving and Arlington, Texas. Eventually, the couple moved to Tell, Texas, where Patsy embraced the role of a farmer's wife. She loved to bake and was an incredible cook. In addition, she was an avid 4-H leader, helping many children in the community. Patsy also enjoyed golfing.

After Mike passed away, she joined "Sisters On The Fly," a group of women who travel together and share wonderful experiences.

Patsy deeply loved her family and will be truly missed by all who knew and cherished her.

Patsy is survived by:

- Sister: Shirley Whiteman of Mesquite, Texas

- Brother: Paul Hammer of Clarksville, Texas

- Daughter: Christi and her husband, Greg, of Gilmer, Texas

- Son: Chad and his wife, Holly, of Tell, Texas

- Grandson: Kase Smith and his wife, Lauren, of Gilmer, Texas

- Grandson: Kooper Smith and his wife, Ashlin, of Gilmer, Texas

- Granddaughter: Colee Cox of Tell, Texas

- Great-Grandson: Porter Smith of Gilmer, Texas

Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Cox; her father, William Hammer; and her mother, Bonnie (Adams) Hammer.
