Patsy Ann Curry, 89 of
Ashland, Kentucky passed away Monday, December 8, 2026 in Arlington
Heights, Illinois.
She was born on August 19, 1936 in Lee County Virginia, the daughter of W. Ross and Vera
(Bailey) Myers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George
Arthur Curry, a brother, James Myers, and a sister, Flora Gay Van Guelpen.
A faithful and devoted Christ follower, Pat actively helped in church life from her youth. In
marriage, she served alongside George as a missionary and teacher in south Texas and then in
New Mexico. She received her B. A. in education at Western New Mexico University and taught
elementary school on the Navajo reservation until retiring to Ashland in June 2004, where she
volunteered to assist with VBS and the nursery at First United Methodist Church of Ashland.
When her husband, George, went to be with God, she lived with her son, Arthur and his wife
Kayla for a time, then settled in the Chicago suburbs with her daughter, Mary Jane, her spouse
Alix Atienza and their two sons, Grayson and Lucas. After five years of mutual love and care
with her family, along with a lifetime of adventure and dedication, she surrendered her spirit to
the realms of heaven to praise God and rejoice with the angels.
She is survived by one son, Arthur Ross Curry and his wife, Kayla, of Hermitage TN; one
daughter, Mary Curry Atienza and her husband, Alix Atienza of Arlington Heights, IL; six
grandchildren, Gracie Harris, Lincoln Curry, Hudson Curry, Liberty Curry, Grayson Atienza and
Lucas Atienza.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday December 20, 2025 at the downtown location of
STEEN FUNERAL HOME: 1501 CENTRAL AVE,
ASHLAND, KY by Rev. Jeff Bramel. Burial
procession will follow immediately after to Ashland Cemetery. The family will receive friends
from 10AM-11AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Ashland or
the Billy Graham Foundation.
