With sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Patsy Lou Fleming, who peacefully transitioned to her eternal rest on May 8, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on April 12, 1940, in the small town of Mount Olive, Mississippi, Patsy was the cherished daughter of the late Henry Heggins and the late Hettie Harvey Heggins within a large family of twelve children. She attended church at Union Baptist Church of Covington County, MS where she was baptized and saved as a child. Throughout her life, she embodied the essence of love, resilience, and dedication.
A long-time resident of
Grand Prairie, Texas, Patsy gracefully carved out a vibrant career, working in executive positions at Modern Sales and General Foods before joining her husband in their family business, Fleming & Son Corporation. Through her professional journey, she patiently balanced her passion for work while nurturing her family. Patsy never lost sight of her roots, holding dear the values of her youth-especially the culinary arts. Her legendary chicken and dumplings and indulgent banana pudding brought joy to family and work gatherings, creating culinary memories that will linger long in the hearts of those she loved.
Beyond her roles as a devoted mother to her son, Clay and his wife Kim, step-children; Grady Fleming and spouse Barbie, Pam Johnson and spouse Pee Wee, Patricia Ethridge and spouse James and a dedicated wife, Patsy was a talented artist whose brush danced across canvases, revealing her creative spirit. She rejoiced in the beauty of nature, often seen tending to her flourishing vegetable garden, a testament to her green thumb and nurturing soul.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Grady "Bo" Fleming Jr, Ronald Johnston and spouse Sumer, Andrea Blackwell and companion Bo Cloy, Leslie Powell, Jim Etheridge, Austin Fleming and spouse Sabrina, Chandler Fleming, Clayton Fleming; great-grandchildren, Carly, Tre', Mia, DJ, Landon, Tyler, Sadie, Charles, Kiete, Ashley, Seth; great-great grandchildren, Renlee, Andi Peyton, Beckham and Lottie Mae, also by 6 siblings. Preceeding her in death was her beloved husband Jim and great-grandson John.
Patsy will be lovingly remembered for her generous heart, embracing spirit, and boundless creativity. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In reverence of her life, a public viewing will be held on May 13, 2025, from 6 to 8 pm at the Guerrero Dean Funeral Home. The following day, May 14, we will gather in celebration of her life during a funeral service at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church where she was a member, Dr. Bill Skaar officiating. A graveside service will follow at Moore Memorial Gardens at 2 pm, where we will lay her to rest in the serene embrace of the earth and beside her husband of fifty-nine years, the late James Obidiah Fleming who passed away in 2020.
