Patsy June Franks

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Patsy Verzwyvelt Franks will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at St. Rita Catholic Church, Alexandria, with Father Anthony "Raj" Dharmaraj officiating. Interment will follow in Alexandria Memorial Gardens, Woodworth, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mrs. Franks, 84, of Alexandria, entered eternal rest on Sunday March 10, 2024, in her residence with her loving family by her side.
Mrs. Franks was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed endless dances at Dube Hall. She had a love for country music and her world was forever changed with the loss of Conway Twitty. She was a loyal customer of QVC and Avon, and she could easily tell which was the best diamonique rings. She was a graduate of Providence High School, Class of 1957. Mrs. Franks worked at Red Cross in downtown Alexandria and Pinecrest for many years. She was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Rita Catholic Church for many years. She prayed her rosary faithfully. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John David "Junior" Franks; infant child, David John Franks; her parents, Henry "Sonny Boy" & Bena Verzwyvelt; and her sisters, Eleanor "Ninny" Abercrombie and Rosemary Jackson.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include, three children, Wayne Franks, Wanda Franks (Rickey) & Janet Perkins; one brother, James "Jim" Verzwyvelt (Gloria); four grandchildren, Mookie Perkins (Brittany), Christopher Perkins, David Perkins (Alanis) & Brandi Evans (Buck); eight great-grandchildren, Dylan Sweat, Baylee Perkins, Layla Perkins, Carlo Perkins, Kye Perkins, Leland Perkins, Lane Evans, and Kennedi Evans; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at St. Rita Catholic Church, Alexandria, on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers honored to serve are: Buck Evans, Lane Evans, Kary Beebe, Jr., Jared Beebe, Jimbo Verzwyvelt, and Mike Verzwyvelt.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Compassionate Care Hospice for the care that was given during her final weeks. Also, special thanks to two of her nieces, Nita Beebe and Anita Bruner, for their special care and compassion.
