It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patsy Ann Gilliland on November 3, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on August 25, 1940, in Mills River, NC, she was the cherished daughter of the late James I. and Cora Finger Gilliland and sister to the late James Lawrence Gilliland.
Patsy was raised in Henderson County, NC, where she developed a lifelong love for art, writing, and her family. After graduating from Edneyville High School in 1958, she embarked on a diverse and accomplished career. From 1958-1962, she worked as a professional wrestler traveling throughout the United States and Mexico, where she was admired for her strength, dedication, and pioneering spirit. She later dedicated over 30 years to Strawberry Hills Press (later Chase Packaging and Union Camp), where she distinguished herself as one of the company's first female supervisors, earning respect for her leadership and commitment to excellence. Following her retirement from the printing industry, she continued her career at the Fletcher ABC Store, where she served faithfully until her retirement.
Patsy was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, cherished by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Bratcher Warner (Scott) of Shelbyville, TN; her grandchildren, Chad I. Drake (Christian) of College Grove, TX, Kristin M. Williams of Shelbyville, TN, and J. Kyle Warner of Little Rock, AR; six beloved great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Jane Myers of
Hendersonville, NC; her brother, R. David Gilliland (Angie) of Etowah, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 2:30pm, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in
Hendersonville, NC.
