Patsy Belle Hawthorne Holt Griffiths was born on December 27, 1936, and passed away on November 28, 2025. She was born in Los Angeles, California, to Babe Belle Hammond and was adopted by her father, William Hawthorne. Patsy grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, as an only child, often spending time with her aunts and uncles: Chick and Ruth Hammond, and Faye and Wanda Hammond. She had a happy childhood and learned to be a lady from her family.
Patsy married McClaine Ray Holt, and together they raised a family of six sons: Steven Ray Holt (married to Peggy), William Craig Holt (married to Catherine), Donald Jeffrey Holt (married to Patty), Michael Dean Holt (married to Laurie), Richard Allen Holt, and Robert Boyd Holt (married to Sara). Although she always hoped for a daughter, she found that joy with her daughters-in-law and Lynnette Kelley.
After her divorce from McClaine Holt, Patsy found love again with Sheldon Griffiths, who cherished her. They traveled extensively, visiting places like Europe, Hawaii, and various locations across the United States, including a trip to see the Twin Towers shortly before their destruction on September 11, 2001.
Patsy was known for her punctuality and always stressed the importance of being on time to her children. She took pride in her appearance, ensuring she looked proper when leaving the house, and she made it a point to have her hair done every week. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she met many of her friends. Patsy deeply loved her family and often wished she could see them more often.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her aunts and uncles, her husband Sheldon, her son Donald Jeffrey Holt, her grandson Jason Derek Holt, and her great-grandson Trayton Michael Holt.
Patsy is survived by 18 grand-children and many great-grandchildren.
