Patsy Nelda Harrison was born in
Joaquin, Texas, on January 18, 1936, and from the very beginning, she carried a spark that stayed with her for all of her 89 years, 10 months, and 16 days. In March of 1955, she married the love of her life, William Arneth Harrison, Jr., and together they built a home filled with faith, laughter, and the kind of steady devotion that anchors a family for generations.
Patsy was a loving mother of five, and she poured her heart into raising her children with strength, tenderness, and an endless supply of wisdom. She taught by example-how to be resilient; how to bend but never break, how to treat others with kindness, how to find joy in everyday moments, and how to hold tight and be strong, no matter what life brings. Her patience was a quiet strength, her kindness soft and true.
She loved to have fun- and to share it with the people around her. Cooking and baking were some of her greatest joys, and she was always collecting new recipes, eager to try something different and share it with the friends and family who gathered around her table. Patsy could turn a simple meal into a memory.
She enjoyed going out to eat and loved trying new restaurants, laughing with friends, and playing bunco, cards, bingo, and dice games- she always enjoyed surrounding herself with people she loved. Her garden was another happy place. She cared for her plants with affection; we knew that they didn't always thrive quite as well as the people who flourished under her love. She loved sharing jams, made with her homegrown figs, hand-selected and counted one by one.
Patsy was truly a lover of life. She had a playful spirit, a wonderful sense of humor, and a spunk that made her unforgettable. She was sweet, strong, and full of grace and mercy. Her smile had a way of lighting up any room, and her heart was as beautiful as her faith was steady. Her love for Jesus guided and comforted her, and shaped the life she lived.
Today, we honor a woman who gave so much of herself-her laughter, her strength, her sweetness, her stories, her lessons, her warmth. We carry her with us in the things she taught us, in the traditions she passed on, and in the love she freely gave.
Patsy lived a full, joyful, purpose-filled life. And though we will miss her deeply, we celebrate her today with gratitude-for her example, her spirit, and for the gift of having been loved by her.
