Patsy Ann "Mershon" Horner

Patsy Ann (Mershon) Horner left her earthly bonds on Thursday, February 19. 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 29, 1938, to Frances and Eva (Schoffstall) Mershon. She was an amazing, loving, and giving lady. Nan delighted in giving care to the many children she watched while their parents worked. Patty attended Smith Park Methodist Church before it disbanded. Patty married Ernest Horner on April 9, 1972, and together they made a wonderful life in the home built by Ernie. They worked side by side on things around the house, including a huge garden.

She is survived by son Randy Mershon (Brenda) of Indianapolis, daughters Vicki Collins (John) of West Terre Haute, Sandy Reece (Monte) of Brazil, and Jackie Jackson (Bill) of Clinton; 7 grandchildren: Josh Collins (Randi) of West Terre Haute, Sarah Bailey (Clint Jenkins) of Terre Haute, Jessica Reece (John Gilchrist) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jarrod Reece (Megan) of Carmel, Jacob Reece (Renee) of Reelsville, Steve Jackson (Melissa) of Clinton, and Jennifer Kirchoff (Rob) of Rosedale. Also surviving are 12 great grandchildren: Jack Collins, Blaine Collins (Abigail), Zane Collins (Morgan), Addie Bailey, Sawyer Jenkins, Max Jenkins, Lainey Reece, Maddie Reece, Tristan Reece, Preston Reece, Hannah Roberts (Matthew), Dakota Kirchoff (Kara), and especially excited about her great great grandchildren: Huxson Collins, "Rowdy" Rhett Collins, Beau Roberts, Maddox Roberts, Braelynn Kirchoff, Everly Kirchoff, and new baby Kirchoff on the way. Patty is also survived by brother Kenneth Butch Mershon (Sue), two sisters Iva Montgomery and Carolyn Tageson (Jim), as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, grandson John Collins III, six brothers Frank, Donald, James, George, and infant twins Richard and Robert; two sisters Mary Hendricks and Norma Jean Noel; and Ernie Horner, her loving husband who she missed dearly for the last 8 years.

Her miniature white horse, Lizzie, will surely miss her many sandwich cookies and lovings.

Per her request cremation has been chosen and entrusted to DeBaun Funeral Home. There will be no visitation or services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for Nanny, Ernie, and Johnny.
