Patsy Burton Hughes

Patsy Burton Hughes, age 88, of Erwin, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Governor's Bend Retirement and Assisted Living. A native of Nickelsville, VA, though she had lived in Erwin since 1959 and considered Erwin her home, Patsy is a daughter of the late Barto and Maggie (McConnell) Daugherty. She was a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church and had recently been attending Fishery Community Church with her friend. Patsy was one of the best cooks! She enjoyed sewing, crafts (especially easy punch crafts), and quilting; She had a green thumb and enjoyed growing flowers, and most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Patsy is preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Billy Ervin Burton, Sr.; her second husband, Charles Henry Hughes; her son, Billy Ervin Burton, Jr.; and three of her siblings; Peggy Doctor, Glen Daugherty and Paul Daughtery.
Patsy Burton Hughes has left behind to cherish her memory: sister: Betty Broadwater; sons: Bobby Burton (Jo) and Rick Burton (Sandy); daughter-in-law: Jennie Burton; grandchildren: Brian Burton (Chrissy), Jerad Burton (Crystal), Philip Burton (Erika), Garrison Burton (Jennifer), Will Burton (Kjirsten), Amy Burton, Amanda Burton-McKinney (Chad), and Corey Burton (Taylor); great-grandchildren: Liam Burton, Reece Burton, Jonas Burton, Nick Burton, Mallory Burton, Morgan Burton, Izzy Burton, Kai Burton, Theo Burton, Fritz Burton, and Carter McKinney; and a very special friend: Mike Tucker.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Patsy Burton Hughes in a committal service to be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, June 9, 2025, in the mausoleum chapel at Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend Steve Rice will officiate. Those attending the committal service should meet at Evergreen Cemetery by 12:50 pm on Monday, June 9, 2025, for the service. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Brian Burton, Jerad Burton, Philip Burton, Garrison Burton, Will Burton, Corey Burton, and great grandsons: Liam Burton and Nick Burton.
