Patsy Humphries Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harrell Funeral Home - Dublin on Feb. 25, 2026.
Patsy Ann Humphries passed away peacefully at home on February 23, 2026, in Bryan, Texas. Born on October 11, 1928, in Comanche County to W.E. & Dulcie E. Heatly. She married J.C. Humphries on February 7, 1946, in DeLeon, Texas. She retired from 45 years in the floral business, starting her first florist in Dublin, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bryan, Texas and volunteered in various community service activities in the Brazos Valley.

She opened Petal Patch Florist in 1975 in the 707 Shopping Center in Bryan-College Station. In 1980 it expanded to a full-line Hallmark Store. When the malls came to town she went back to plants, flowers and gifts. She always used student workers from Texas A&M University and worked with the athletic department hiring summer help. Working with students kept her young at heart. Encouraging kids to stay in school, helped with tuition, bought Aggie rings and still hears from students that worked for her years ago. Aggies always called her "Mrs. H". She got a call years ago from Alaska. "Mrs. H this is Stu class of '76". It took a few seconds to remember who he was, and he thanked her for helping him through school. Today, many of her former employees own or still work in the floral business.

Floral shops in '75 were mostly in people's homes. A woman in business was not encouraged during those years. She proved that a woman with a high school education could succeed. In the beginning of her floral career, she taught community education courses in floral design in Bryan-College Station. She was a member of the Board of Directors with the Chamber of Commerce, District Representative for FTD, District 9-D Board of Directors with the Texas State Florist Association and on the Floral Advisory Board at Texas State Technical Institute in Waco. Her happiest moments were working with students, volunteering and giving flowers to hospice patients in the Bryan-College Station area.

Patsy was preceded in death by son, Mark Humphries, who was lost in Afghanistan in 2005, her husband of 68 years, J.C. Humphries, who died in 2013 and her son-in-law, Rodney Armstrong who died in 2016.

She is survived by her daughter Sayra "Stormy" Armstong, son Sam Humphries, son Chris Humphries and wife Patty, daughter-in-law Jamie Humphries, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Dani Marquez, NaLayjah Johnson and Bridget Guzman, now part of our family.

A graveside service will be at Dublin Liveoak Cemetery in Dublin, Texas on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00am with David Humphries officiating.

The family requests memorials be made to Bryan City Mission and Brazos County Hospice, Bryan, Texas.
