Patsy Kitchens Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Epting Funeral Home - Bentonville from Oct. 29 to Oct. 30, 2022.

Patsy Johnson Kitchens age 70, died Friday October 14, 2022 in Bentonville, Arkansas after a brave battle against metastatic cancer. Patsy was surrounded by loved ones throughout her battle and when she peacefully passed.

Born September 22, 1952, in Carrollton, Alabama to Dora Brown and Murray "Hotdog" Johnson; Patsy's gift to this world was her wholehearted dedication to serving others. She was especially drawn to those with exceptional needs.

Graduated in 1973, from Mississippi State University for Women, with Psychology and Sociology degrees; she began her career as a psychologist specializing in children and adults with intellectual disabilities. She then directed her passion to serve to hearing, and soon after, vision impaired communities in both rehabilitation and vocational capacities. Patsy later counseled youth and young adults with substance abuse dependencies before moving into case management in the medical rehabilitation sector serving those who had been injured. She volunteered for numerous charitable organizations including The American Cancer Society, running several cancer support groups, and co-led a Girl Scout Troop in Tallahassee, Florida.

Along with serving so many wonderful people, she poured so much love and affection into her daughter, and later her granddaughters who were the absolute light of her life. Her legacy of servantship will live on through them.

Patsy's greatest strength was her positive and encouraging spirit, regardless of the obstacle she faced. She was known as the person to call for reassuring support by those facing challenges and needing her unique perspective.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, her sister Patricia Hudson and cherished family members who passed before her.

Patsy is survived by her daughter; Christy Kitchens and her partner Chris Arcana of Bella Vista, her granddaughters; Haley McGee, Ava McGee and Makayla McGee of Bella Vista, her niece; Chastity Marchant, her great nephews and nieces; Matthew Hicks, Brittany Phillips, Brandy Hicks and Daniel Hicks, of Carrollton, Alabama, along with many loving relatives and friends that considered Patsy part of their family.

A Celebration of Patsy's Life will be held Thursday, November 3rd from 4:00-6:00 at Compton Gardens and Arboretum 312 N. Main St., Bentonville, AR
