Patsy Lou (Richer) LaScala, 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25th 2025 in Kalamazoo, MI. She was born on October 30th,1932 in Grand Rapids Michigan to the late Geneva and Fenton Richer.
Patsy graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1951 and attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She was a switchboard operator at Upjohn, then went on to work at Arizona State University as assistant to the athletic director, and eventually Bronson Hospital as a medical records tech for eight years.
In her free time, Patsy enjoyed spending time with friends and family, watching Hallmark movies, reading, gardening, and bird watching. She loved learning about health and wellness, and sharing that knowledge with others.
She is survived by her seven children: Tom, Marie (Chris) Jackson, Joe (Amy), Jim, Sally (Ron) Barta, Anne (Kevin) Marks, and Judy (Scott) Freel; eleven grandchildren: Jennifer (Noah) Gerow, Scott (Kasey) Jackson, Laura (Brendan) Adams, Tim Ginter, Josh (Nicki) LaScala, Lindsey (Justin) Exline, Logan (Caitlin) Hamilton, Andy Barta, Grace (Cy) Montoya, Molly and Lucy Freel; seven great grandchildren, her brother David, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Joanne Ginter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Patsy to Centrica Care Navigators, 7100 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo MI 49009.
