Patsy Howard Lash born on January 1, 1951, in Leslie County, KY, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, in Lexington, KY. Patsy was 75 years old. She lived a life that was marked by service, love, and devotion to her family and community. She was born in Leslie County, the daughter of the late Jake Howard and Pauline Caldwell Howard. Patsy received an associate degree in business and valued education and passed this on to her children and grandchildren.
Patsy had a fulfilling career as a former employee of the Hazard ARH psychiatric unit, where her genuine and caring concern for her patients was evident. Even after her retirement, she continued to exemplify compassion by acting as a caregiver for her family. Her nurturing spirit was not only noted in her professional life but also in her personal endeavors.
An avid reader, Patsy cherished the stories and knowledge found in books, which perhaps complemented her great sense of humor and outgoing personality. She was known for her culinary skills, often delighting those around her with her excellent cooking.
Patsy was a proud grandmother, a role that brought her immense joy as she cherished her grandchildren and strived to be an active part of their lives. She is survived by her devoted son, Johnny Lash & Brooklyn of Busy, KY; beloved daughters, Donna Simpson & Darren of Wellington, KY, and Elizabeth Neace & Michael of Hazard, KY. Additionally, she leaves behind five sisters: Gwen Howard, Linda Watkins & Willie, both of Richmond, KY; Vicki Powers & Robbie of Paris, KY; Sally Morris of Yerkees, KY; and Mary Hancock & Frank of VA. Patsy is also survived by five grandchildren: Melanie Slusher & Travis, Treyton Abner, Hunter Neace, Meeka Lash, and Josie Lash, along with three great-grandchildren: Lily Slusher, Mason Slusher, and Maggie Slusher. She is further survived by a host of other treasured relatives and friends.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Pauline Caldwell Howard, and her cherished husband, Melvin Lash. Her legacy of love and warmth will continue to be felt by all who knew her. Patsy H. Lash will be remembered for her humor, kindness, and the deep connections she cultivated throughout her lifetime.
