Patsy Jane Lynn

Patsy Jane Allison Lynn, age 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior March 29, 2024 at her home surrounded by family who loved her very much. She is survived by five children, Tyrone Lynn, Mike Lynn (Melissa), Scott Lynn (Sonya), April Wengerd (Wayne) and Melanie Lynn; seven grandchildren, Neesa Douglas (Fletcher) Jessica Lynn, Brandon Wengerd, Shawn Wengerd (Michelle), Scott Lynn, Chloee Lynn (Taylor) and Ethan Lynn; 14 great grandchildren, and her sister, Fran Thomas. Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Everett Lynn; father, Garnett Lee Allison; mother, Fannie Lorene Allison; daughter in-law, Melanie Nazareta; brother, Jim Allison and sisters, Yvonne Allison and Peggy Caine.

 She was a devoted wife, mother, and a doting mamaw who was constantly concerned for her children and grandchildren regardless of their age. She was the most selfless person possible never thinking of herself. While raising her children when times got tough and the food budget was short, she would stand in front of the sink waiting for her family to eat before she ate. She didn’t seek wealth or material possessions; she had learned the value of contentment. She was a giver of herself, time, and money; she religiously supported Saint Judes for decades. She was not a complainer; she accepted circumstances and any physical pain as a part of life. She recognized the disease that was affecting her years before her family did. She kept it to herself and began to prepare for the final outcome, writing out exactly what she wanted at her funeral. In moments of clarity she would say thank you or apologize because she believed she had became a burden.

She attended Ten Mile School for eight years and graduated from Meigs County High School. She attended Berry College in Rome, GA majoring in elementary education. She valued education and was extremely proud when her children, grandchildren, and daughter in-laws earned college degrees. She would cut out the announcements from the paper every time one made the Dean’s List. She began her work career at Bishop Bakery which lasted one day, her husband realizing how hard it was to care for five children, and quickly decided she was needed more at home so he kindly encouraged her to quit. This led to her being teased for decades by her children that she quit a job at a pie factory tasting pies even though sweets were her favorite food. As her children got older she went to work as a teacher’s assistant at Trewhitt Junior High and East Cleveland Elementary. She would later complete a nursing assistance program and take a job at Life Care. Her favorite hobbies included reading, writing, crossword puzzles, cryptoquotes and Sudoku. She enjoyed receiving and writing letters the old fashioned way, pen and paper. She enjoyed TV shows like the The Walton’s, The Lucille Ball Show, The Andy Griffith Show and Little House on the Prairie. Elvis was her favorite artist and her home was filled with Elvis memorabilia. She loved participating in practical jokes and she always enjoyed a joke even at her expense. She loved to laugh and it was easy to make her laugh. Her laughter was contagious and made others laugh even more. She was “umble,” never wanting to be the center of attention, satisfied to be in the background, avoiding the camera at all cost. She was proud, not of herself, proud of her children and grandchildren. If any of her children or grandchildren were recognized for any accomplishment she would be the first to brag to others. In her eyes they could do no wrong. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed!

Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Poole Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cleveland on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pall Bearers: Brandon Wengerd, Shawn Wengerd, Scott Lynn, Taylor Vaughn, Ethan Lynn and Dallas Phillips. Honorary Pall Bearers: Fletcher Douglas and Creed Hicks.
