Patsy (Pat) Ruth McCullough

Patsy Ruth McCullough, (88), of Kansas City, MO passed away on January 24, 2026. Pat was born in Gilmer, Texas, on September 25, 1937, to Tollie Raymond Buie and Ruby May Crossland. Pat graduated from San Marcos High School in San Marcos, Texas, in 1955, Texas A&M-Commerce in 1958 with a B.S. in Elementary Education, and Texas State University with a Masters Degree in 1962. She taught school (grades 3-7) for 31 years; the last 22 years were in the Park Hill School District.

Wes and Pat were married in Abilene, Texas on May 25, 1963, and they walked through life hand-in-hand until Wes’s passing in 2020. Pat was a faithful member of Northgate Baptist Church in Kansas City North until it merged with Briarcliff Church in 2016. She supported her church by serving as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, nursey volunteer, and a committee member on several different committees. Pat became a member of Chapter IJ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood holding several offices, including president. She also served as president of the Kansas City Reciprocity Group of P.E.O. She was a member of the Clay County Patriots Chapter of D.A.R. She loved to cook and sew for her family. She knit scarves for the homeless at City Union Mission and distributed them at Christmastime. Pat also liked to write poems for special occasions; every year people on her Christmas card list looked forward to getting the card with her poem in it.

Pat is survived by her son Kevin, her son Andrew (Jennifer), her daughter Karen Trischler (Steve), and grandchildren Madelyn McCullough, Derek Trischler, Alex Trischler, Katie Trischler, and Elaina McCullough. She is also survived by her sister Carolyn Clapp of Kingwood, TX and her brother Dan Buie (Ruby) of San Marcos, TX. She also leaves many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Drew McCullough and her husband Wes McCullough.
