Kornerstone Funeral Directors - PlainviewPatsy Sue Thorne, 83, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026. She was born Patsy Sue Callis on April 14, 1942 in Imperial, California, to Elbert and Ida Mae Callis and was raised in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
While living in Plainview, Texas, she worked at Wayland Baptist University as the head cook. She also worked for many years at Furr’s Cafeteria in Lubbock, Texas and Roswell, New Mexico, where she became well known as the head pie baker. Patsy was known for her ability to cook and bake for those she loved, always showing care for family and friends through the meals she prepared.
Patsy was previously married to her first husband, with whom she had five children, and later married Bill Thorne. Patsy and Bill shared a love of travel and enjoyed taking cruises together over the years. Bill passed away just one week before her, and their family takes comfort in knowing they are reunited.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Thorne; her parents, Elbert and Ida Mae Callis; her son, Terry McGaha; her brother, Rev. Elbert Ray Callis; and her stepson, Steven Thorne.
She is survived by her children, Cindy McGaha, Steve (Karon) McGaha, Sheri (George) Moralez, and Lori McGaha; her stepchildren, Scott (Stacy) Thorne and Sean (Suzanne) Thorne; her sisters, Mary Anne Marsh and Janet Arnold; her grandchildren, Ashley Shell, Erica (Will) Smith, Zachary Anchondo, John (Desiree) Teague,Matt Teague, Summer McGaha, and Robert McGaha; her step-grandchildren, Collin Thorne, Cayla Jackson, Brendan Thorne, and Sheldon Thorne; her great-grandchildren, Journey Shell, Rainer Teague, Charlie Smith, and Emily Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview, Texas with Steve McGaha officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
