Patsy A. (Kieffer) Montgomery, age 82, lifelong Tecumseh resident left this earth for her Heavenly home on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 in Shawnee.
Patsy was born on June 9, 1940 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma to Lester Boone and Ruth Elizabeth (James) Kieffer the fourth born of seven children. She grew up on a farm southeast of Tecumseh where she learned the value of hard work and was nurtured by a loving family.
She attended Forest View and Tecumseh Public Schools.
Patsy was working at Morgan's Pharmacy in Tecumseh when she met the love of her life and future husband, Otho L. Montgomery. They were married on February 2, 1957 in a little chapel in Schuler, Oklahoma by Pastor Sid Tiffin who was Pastor of the First Church of God in Tecumseh at the time. Dad said they traveled to Tulsa with Pastor Sid Tiffin and his wife Mildred to get married because you could get a marriage license and get married in the same day, they wanted to get married and didn't want to wait the three days, so that's what they did. To this union four daughters were born, Treva, Ronda, Jacquita and Kristie.
When her daughters, Treva and Ronda were young she had an in home babysitting service where she cared for many children from the community. She later went to work at Sunset Estates Nursing Home where she found her true calling to work in the nursing field. She became a C.N.A. and C.M.A. also working for Shawnee Medical Center and back to Sunset Estates until she retired after over thirty years of nursing.
Patsy was baptized at the First Church of God in Tecumseh at a young age and has been a member since.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, nanny, daughter, sister, aunt and caregiver. Pasty enjoyed cooking big dinners every Sunday for her family and especially loved having her family for the holidays, there was always more than enough food for anyone who happened to drop in. Her family's favorites were her Mississippi Mud Cake, lemon, chocolate, and coconut cream pies and last but not least her banana pudding. Patsy was a loving and caring woman who always put others need before herself. She was loved by many and will be truly and deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Ruth Kieffer; 3 brothers, James Kieffer, Floyd Kieffer and Gary Kieffer; and 2 sisters, Irene Latham and Colleen Stover.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 66 years, Otho L. Patsy was one of the most caring people I have worked with and she did a great job as a nursing assistant and loved her children and grandchildren. I am sure she will be missed.
