Patsy Jean Derieux Ownby October 15,1940 - March 2,2026

Our beautiful & beloved PatPat as she was affectionately known as by her family was called home to heaven where she was welcomed by God's loving embrace. PatPat was born & raised in Knoxville, TN, she married Rex Ownby & eventually their young family relocated with his job in the F.B.I. to Buffalo N.Y. where they braved the long winters before relocating back to Knoxville. Though she worked outside her home as a secretary, teacher & medical transcriptionist , her role as wife, mother & granny gave her life the most joy. Her spunky, quick witted, sassy, never lacking for words personality will live on in our hearts. She kept a beautiful home & loved cooking delicious homemade meals for her family.

PatPat's true love & devoted husband of 66 years , Rex was by her side at home when she passed on to her heavenly home. First in line to greet her when she arrived was her son Joe Ownby, followed by her Parents Gene and Willie Mae Derieux, Special Uncle and Aunt Albert and Nancy Cameron, In-laws Arvin and Nettie Kate Ownby. Many more family members and friends were next in line.

She loved her family and friends, her church and her Heavenly Father. Those of us left with a great sense of loss & to keep her memory alive ,include her devoted husband Rex Ownby, daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Gus Paidousis, granddaughter & husband Kayla & Jerry Braddom, grandson & wife Cameron & Kayla Paidousis, Daughter-in-law Trish Ownby, granddaughter Samantha Ownby, Grandson Rex Ownby, great grandchildren Xavier Ownby, Sophia & Gus Braddom, Nash & Jovie Paidousis. Sisters-in-law Doris Young,Patty Ownby, Brother-in-law Jimmy Ownby along with countless nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 6, 2026, from 4-6pm at Rose Funeral & Cremation Broadway. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm with Rev. Trey Black officiating. Family and friends will gather at 12:45 pm Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Highland Memorial Cemetery for a 1:00 pm interment service.

In lieu of flowers the family asks you consider making a donation to Lincoln Park Baptist Church.
