Richard "Buddha" Schinestuhl, born on January 23, 1969, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2026, at UNC Health Care-Pardee in Hendersonville, North Carolina. He was 57 years old.

Richard was a man who truly understood the essence of life-cherishing each moment and creating lasting memories with those he loved most. Known affectionately by his family as "Buddha," he brought wisdom, warmth, and a calming presence to everyone around him.

His greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved grandchildren, Phoenix, Aries, Nova, Maverick, Zaleen, and Perseus. Whether cheering alongside his family while watching NASCAR, enjoying a good football game, or simply sharing laughter and stories, Richard's life was a testament to the power of love and family.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Schinestuhl; his children, Patrick Mays, Kenneth Mays, and Katlynn Higgins, whose lives he enriched with his love and guidance. His sister, Heidi Richey, and brother, Robert W. Schinestuhl, along with numerous nieces and nephews, also carry forward the cherished memories of a life well lived.

Preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Carol Schinestuhl, Richard's journey through life was marked by an unwavering dedication to his family, whose lives he touched in profound ways.
