Patsy Hennington Pressler, 92, of
McComb, MS passed at her residence into the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ on July 16, 2023.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until an 11 AM graveside services in Hollywood Cemetery. Dr. Victor Walsh will officiate.
Patsy was born on February 11, 1931 in Tylertown, MS., She was the daughter of the late Dr. Thomas Ben Hennington and Mildred Blakeney Hennington. She was raised in McComb from the age of three.
Patsy was a 1949 graduate of McComb High School. She was a Cheerleader for three years, and she participated every year in all piano contest. She was a member of the MS Federation of Music Clubs, MS Education Assoc, and participated in Field Meet events.
She graduated from L.S.U. with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. She was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority, and Sigma Alpha Iota Honorary Music Fraternity.
After graduation, she taught school in
Port Arthur, Texas, where she met her husband, James W. "Bill" Pressler, a recent graduate of Rice University in Engineering. He was then employed with E I Dupont. They married in 1954.
Patsy taught school for a year in
Charleston, West Virginia, when Bill was transferred to the Dupont plant there. She taught school in
Houston, Texas, for a year when Bill went back to Rice University for Pre-Med courses. She taught four more years in LaMarque, Texas while Bill earned his Medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.
After practicing medicine for two years in Louisiana, Bill and Patsy moved back to McComb in 1963 where Bill set up his medical practice and Patsy was busy raising four little boys under age five; Mark, David, Patrick and Paul. She was very active in the Hughes Elementary School PTA, and was a Cub Scout den mother.
She was a lifetime member of the McComb Junior Auxiliary, served as president of the Aspasia Club and the Twenty-one Club, and was a member of the Brent Rifles Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Patsy loved to study the bible daily and was a serious student of the Tetelestai Bible Church Teaching Ministry from New Kensington, PA. Bill and Patsy were supportive of this Ministry that they received daily. They also attended a home church in Madison, MS that recieved it.
She loved to read History, work in her yard, play Tennis, cook for her family, and play the piano. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Dr. Thomas Hennington Jr. "Tommy".
She is survived by her husband, Dr. James W. Pressler, and their four sons, Mark A. Pressler of Acworth, GA; David G. Pressler (Vickie) of
Springfield, OH; Patrick B. Pressler and Paul W. Pressler of Metairie, LA; grandchildren Kevin P. Kuntz (Brooke), Katelyn E. (Carl) Schwander, Kyle Pressler and Keaton Pressler; four great-grandchild Kinsley M. Schwander, Carsten J. Schwander, Colsen R. Schwander and Lincoln Michael Kuntz; and many nieces and nephews.
